120 to 125 BPM. Electro is a derivitive of the 'Roland 808' drum machine. Electro's sound is distinctively synthetic, instrumental, electronic and experimental.
Additionally, the 808 drum machines pounding beats and pure sounds were heavily used in Hip Hop, Disco and funk music.
According to the ravelinks.com website, it was very popular in New York during the early 1980s.
